Club-Wide Events:

Fall & Spring Kickoffs

  • Our whole-club meetings that kick off each semester. 

  • They are a chance for everyone to see each other, learn more about the club, and enjoy some food.

  • Fall kickoff introduces board members and spring kickoff introduces committee members.


Spring Banquet

  • Our signature end-of-year event, a chance to celebrate all that we've done over the year. Students, faculty, alumni, and industry members are all invited.

  • New board announced.


External:

Company Presentations:

  • At the beginning of the Fall semester, we host 20+ company presentations, where we bring in a different company every Mon-Thurs to present on their company, resources, job opportunities, and more!

  • FOOD provided :)


Meet the Firms:

  • Our flagship event, Meet the Firms is our annual career fair that connects over 30 companies with our 150+ members. 

  • This is designed specifically for people seeking actuarial internships, often with alumni coming back to campus as recruiters, making it easy for students to connect with companies and get their dream internships and jobs. 


Company Field Trips:

  • Field trips are a hands-on learning experience for members' professional development. They offer opportunities for members to get a feel for what a company is like, hone their networking skills, and learn more about the profession.

Alumni Outreach:

  • ASC maintains a strong relationship with its alumni. This manifests in various ways:

    • Our annual Alumni Newsletter, keeping them up-to-date on what's happening in the club.

    • Our Facebook, Instagram, Slack, and LinkedIn posts do the same.

    • Alumni Mentorship Program

      • The Alumni Mentorship Program helps students gain an understanding of the actuarial science field and develop their professionalism. Through this program, alumni of all industries and backgrounds are able to guide current students in their journey to becoming a successful actuary. Over the course of a short series of meetings, alumni can share their personal experiences and advice for the mentee, while the mentee is able to ask any questions they may have. Potential discussion topics include SOA vs. CAS, exam preparation, interview tips, internships, elevator pitches, resumes, potential career paths, and anything else that comes to mind!


Casualty Actuarial Society:

  • Up to 2 ASC members volunteer as the CAS Student Ambassador, strengthening our relationship and providing information/resources for members


Coaching Actuaries

  • A sponsorship partnership in which members get a significant discount on study materials

  • Workshops are a great opportunity for members to develop their skills. Each workshop we bring in an industry professional to educate members on varied aspects of the actuarial profession.

UIUC’s Actuarial Department:

  • ASC volunteers at numerous on-campus ActSci major recruiting events, including:

    • LAS Liftoff

    • Major & Minors Career Fair

    • Illini Days


Incoming Students

  • ASRM 101:

    • Teaching basic tenets of actuarial science to incoming students

  • Actuarial Connection Program

    • Through the Actuarial Connections Program, we are able to provide a comfortable environment for new students to ask questions and receive feedback by pairing them with more experienced students. Mentees in this program will have the unique opportunity to form personal connections while receiving key advice on topics such as exams, courses, internships, interviewing, and much more!
